True Finance offers cash advances up to $150, with no interest and no credit check. You need a $6.99 monthly membership before you can request one. Instant delivery costs extra, and True's own pages do not agree on the price. See the cons below for the exact numbers. An Earn tab lets you do tasks and games for extra cash through third-party partners.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • If you cannot repay an advance, True will not send you to collections. It also will not report the missed advance to a credit bureau or sell your balance to a third party.
  • No interest and no late fees on the cash advance itself.
  • Free standard delivery usually takes one to two business days. True says so in its own terms.
  • Your $6.99 fee buys more than the advance. It also pays for budgeting tools and credit monitoring.

Cons

  • You cannot get an advance without paying the $6.99 monthly membership first. There is no free way to request a cash advance.
  • Advances top out at $150. True's own site says most people get about $40.
  • Instant delivery costs extra, and True's own pages disagree on how much. Marketing pages say $2.99 to $5.99, but the fine print lists a schedule up to $7.99.
  • You need a qualifying direct deposit of at least $200, received three times or more. You also need a bank account linked through Plaid.
  • The Earn tab pays for tasks and games from third-party partners, not True Finance itself. Your data and any payout disputes go through those partners, not True.
  • Cash advance is not available in Connecticut, Indiana, Washington D.C., or any U.S. territory.
