United Quest Benefits: Full List Explained

May 16, 2026

A free checked bag on a roundtrip flight can save a couple about $80 each way. Over a year of travel, that one perk alone often pays the annual fee on the United Quest Card. The catch is that most cardholders never use even half of what the card offers.

The Quest is Chase's mid-tier United co-brand, sitting between the lower-fee Explorer and the premium Club Infinite. It is built for travelers who fly United a few times a year and want lounge-light comfort without a four-figure annual fee. Terms and conditions apply.

Below is the full benefit list for 2026, with the dollar values that actually matter.

Welcome Bonus and Annual Fee

The card carries a $350 annual fee. New cardholders can earn up to 100,000 bonus MileagePlus miles and 3,000 Premier Qualifying Points (PQP) after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first three months. A portion of the bonus typically requires adding an authorized user.

At a conservative 1.2 cents per mile, 100,000 miles are worth roughly $1,200 toward United flights. That is a strong first-year return even after the annual fee. Check the official Chase application page for current bonus terms before you apply.

Earning Rates on Every Purchase

The Quest earns at three tiers. You get 3 miles per dollar on United purchases, including flights, in-flight food, Wi-Fi, and Club passes. You earn 2 miles per dollar on other travel, including hotels, rideshare, and trains, plus 2 miles per dollar on dining and select streaming. Everything else earns 1 mile per dollar.

That 3x category is the workhorse. A family booking $3,000 of United flights a year earns 9,000 miles just on the tickets, enough for a domestic award seat in some markets.

Annual Travel Credits

The Quest gives you a $200 United TravelBank cash credit each cardmember year, deposited shortly after you open the account and again at every anniversary. TravelBank cash works like a gift card balance for United flights.

That credit alone trims the effective annual fee from $350 to $150. If you fly United at least once a year, this is real money, not a hoop-jumping perk.

Anniversary Award Flight Credits

Each year you keep the card, you receive two 5,000-mile award flight credits. These post automatically after you redeem miles for a United flight. In practice, a redemption priced at 20,000 miles gets refunded down to 15,000 miles, up to two times per anniversary year.

That is up to 10,000 miles back per year, worth around $120 at typical redemption values. It is one of the most overlooked perks in the airline co-brand category.

Free Checked Bags for You and a Companion

The primary cardholder and one companion on the same reservation each get the first and second checked bag free on United-operated flights. The companion does not need to be a cardholder, just on the booking. The ticket must be purchased with the Quest Card.

With United's standard checked-bag fees, that perk can save a couple $160 on a single roundtrip with two bags each. Two trips a year and the perk pays for the card by itself.

25% Back on Inflight Purchases

Any food, drink, or Wi-Fi you buy on a United flight, plus premium drinks at United Clubs, earns 25% back as a statement credit when paid with the Quest. There is no cap and no enrollment required.

It is a small but steady benefit. A $12 inflight meal becomes effectively $9, and a $10 onboard Wi-Fi pass becomes $7.50.

Premier Qualifying Points (PQP) From Spending

The Quest lets you earn 1 PQP for every $20 spent on purchases, up to 6,000 PQP per calendar year. PQP count toward MileagePlus Premier elite status, which unlocks free upgrades, better seat selection, and waived fees.

That means a person who charges $120,000 a year on the Quest could earn 6,000 PQP without ever stepping on a plane. For travelers chasing Premier Silver or Gold, this is a meaningful shortcut.

Travel Protections and TSA PreCheck or Global Entry Credit

The Quest includes a statement credit of up to $120 every four years for TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, or NEXUS. That alone covers the cost of the application.

Other protections include primary auto rental collision coverage when renting for business, trip cancellation and interruption coverage up to $1,500 per person, baggage delay coverage, and purchase protection on new items for 120 days. Read the benefit guide for exclusions and claim limits.

Build Credit Before Applying for Premium Cards

The Quest requires good to excellent credit, generally a FICO score of 700 or higher. If you are still building your file, applying now usually ends in a denial that costs you a hard inquiry. A starter card is the smarter first step.

The Self Visa® Credit Card is a low-risk secured option that reports to all three major bureaus. You build a small credit-builder savings balance first, and your on-time payments grow your score over time. After 6 to 12 months of clean payment history, your odds of approval on a Chase travel card jump considerably.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the United Quest Card worth the $350 annual fee?

For anyone who flies United at least once a year, yes. The $200 TravelBank credit and free checked bags can offset the fee on a single roundtrip. Add the anniversary award credits and the math gets better.

Does the United Quest Card include lounge access?

No. The Quest does not include United Club membership or day passes. You earn 25% back on premium drinks bought inside United Clubs, but entry requires a separate Club pass, Club membership, or the United Club Infinite Card.

How many checked bags are free with the Quest Card?

The primary cardholder and one companion on the same reservation each get their first and second checked bag free on United-operated flights. The ticket must be paid for with the Quest Card.

Can I earn elite status by spending on the Quest Card?

You can earn up to 6,000 Premier Qualifying Points (PQP) per calendar year through purchases, at a rate of 1 PQP per $20 spent. That can help you reach Premier Silver or Gold without flying as much, but you still need some PQP from flying for higher tiers.
